potatoes

alrighty...so last night i stayed the night at kati's. we watched the little mermaid, then went to bed. we always share a bed, so this morning kati let me know that i had a little of dead-fish-flappy-hand thing going on and kind of sort of hit her in the face. whoops. at least i didn't shove anyone off the bed this time...

kati and i usually have a tradition of baking and taking pictures when we spend the night at each other's houses. well, we didn't last night, but this is a picture of her and i in my kitchen after an intense flour and whipped cream fight. we were skating around on my floor, because it was absolutely covered in flour. gosh, that was fun.

so this morning, i woke up at like ten o'clock and kati was on myspace. well, my best friend treane, who lives two hours away from me, is a friend on kati's myspace. i can't myspace her because i am not allowed to have a myspace but i used kati's myspace to message treane. this picture is of treane and me at a huge farm last fall. they mostly do pick-your-own apples and pumpkins.

so we had a little myspace tiff, but we are over it. anyway, if all goes well, she will come over for a week this summer, for my sixteenth birthday.

so at about one o'clock my mum calls kati's house and is like "mary, your dad's waiting for you outside." well, gee, thanks for letting me know. i was already in a mood, and then i get this, so i go on a little swearing spree. for goodness' sake, i wasn't even dressed yet. i was still in my little pajamas. gosh. so i dash into her bedroom and pull on my jeans while popping sleeping beauty out of the vcr in kati's room. i put my awesome double-tongue converse on, a gift from kati, but i do not tie them. i throw on a blue tank top, a gift from ally, and i run out the door. well, my dad was right outside, and i am kinda thinking he maybe possibly might have heard me swearing at my mother. oops.

when i got home, i informed my mother of my adventures yesterday, then i grabbed my paycheck and my dad and i went to the bank to cash our checks. so now i have money, and i am beyond excited. after that, we went to my dad's friend's house so my dad could borrow his bike because my family is going biking tomorrow for father's day. so i re-met my dad's friend Brian and his wife Tara, then we met the neighbors and saw their puppies. they were the cutest! i think they were brothers of the cute little doggie on the charmin or angel soft or whatever toilet paper commercial. they were so flipping cute, it was unbelievable. i mean, i don't usually like dogs, but these puppies were absolutely adorable.

so when we got home, my grandparents and tom and susie came over and we made a ham that they had given us, and we had that with deviled eggs, sweet potato casserole, and asparagus. during dinner, we got in a debate over whether sweet potatoes were of the potato family and where they came from. well, we didn't find that out, but when i looked in the encyclopedia for it, i discovered that the spanish discovered potatoes in the andes in the 1400's i think, and that potatoes are actually a member of the nightshade family. yes, well, nightshade is poison, in case you didn't know.

we played a super-fun card game after dinner, then everyone went home and i kind of sort of started on my summer homework. the first book i must read is the scarlet letter. woohoo. i am so excited. not exactly.

so then my dad had a little fit and freaked out on me for not cleaning up my sisters' stuff off the stairs and putting it away for them. gosh.

and now i am here. so there you have it.

as usual, a quote.

"...simple bliss, which is scattered far and wide for all mankind to gather up, might yet be mine."
-"roger chillingworth", the scarlet letter
