oh. my. gosh. my bottom hurts. really badly.
well, we all know today is father's day. my father is an avid biker. so to celebrate father's day, we biked this famous bike trail that used to be a railroad. total, i think i biked seventeen miles. on my sister's bike, which probably has the hardest seat mankind was ever stupid enough to invent. goodness gracious. and that trail has its fair share of bumps, especially the fourteenth and fifteenth mile. so that's why my caboose pains me.when we first started biking, there is a tunnel immediately. it is seriously pitch black in there. and the thing is like two miles long. scared the crapazoli out of me the first time through. yup, had to go through twice. the tunnel is concrete inside, and a lot of muddy water drips from the top and down the sides, so on either side there is a little water channel about a foot wide and a foot and half deep. you have to be really careful when you bike through, because if one was to fall into a water channel, one would be injured and wet. and did i mention it is pitch black in there? so in the tunnel, helmets and lights are required. there are like five other tunnels, but that one is the longest by far.
since it is like in the mountains, there are trestle bridges over the valleys, and the view is completely awesome from there. seriously. and a few are like super-high up off the ground. like it doesn't look that far away, but then you notice the birds are beneath your feet and the treetops are about fifty feet below you. it is quite awesome. so, of course, my dad and i, just to get a perspective on how far down it really was, spit off the trestle bridge. we ended up spitting about seven times each, until we made it into the stream below. yeah, it was pretty far down.
when we finally reached the bottom of the trail, we took a shuttle back to the top and rode through the tunnel again, because the shuttle couldn't go through. the first time, i was like crawling. the second time, i was haulin'. my little sister's light went out about halfway through the tunnel, so she had to stay right behind me or else she would have fallen off the side and died. either she would be rendered temporarily immobile and drown, or she would have a flipping heart attack. so she was very grateful for my light.
we drove back home uneventfully and now, i am in intense pain. i got an awesome sunburn and i'm pretty sure my bony little bottom is bruised. severely bruised.
and now i am here. and...quote time!
