well, i had a very busy, fun and (surprisingly) productive weekend.
on friday, kati dearest came over to my place, and we just hung out, watched the o.c., and began making my lovely and a little fancy dinner of individual italian meatloafs. well, i made, she mostly watched, but nonetheless.
well, i was about to sauce the meatloafs and start the penne pasta when gayle came to pick me up for babysitting. i could have sworn she said saturday, but it didn't work out that way. so kati had to call her mom to come pick her up and melody had to finish my dinner. not the way i pictured it, but...
when i went to babysit, the baby, Ava, fell asleep before her mom even left, so i just watched ella. it was...interesting. i probably should have slept more the night before, and i'm going to leave it at that.
on saturday, i spent the entire day watching the o.c. and making a peanut butter cup cheesecake. which should have been delicious, but i had forgotten just how long it takes to make a cheesecake completely from scratch, and so courtney picked me up around five thirty and melody had to finish making my cheesecake. poor thing.
when i went to courtney's, there was a lack of dinner, so we drove (illegally again; she doesn't have her six months yet) to albertson's and picked up some pizza and delicious popsicles and also some reese's. that was yummy. especially those divine popsicles. excuse me, "dreyer's fruit bars".
then brian, courtney's boyfriend, came over and we all watched "get smart" which was a pretty good movie. brian went home at eleven and courtney and i played "mario" for about an hour. i will tell you, i basically dominate the dirt track, but the paved track needs some work and the beach track? not so much. i'm getting better though.
after that, we ate some popsicles and sat on the futon and just chatted for about five or six hours. we actually have a lot more in common than i expected. so that was really fun. i haven't talked to one person for that long in quite the while. especially since we did nothing excpet talk. excluding our super-secret stealth mission. operation: recover popsicles and cold pizza. successful.
so we fell asleep about six in the morning.
i finally woke up at ten thirty to numerous text messages asking if it was okay that nick pick me up at ten forty-five. it would have been okay, had i woken up earlier. as it was, i apparently had fifteen minutes to get dressed, fix my hair, and put my face on. well, nick actually came at like eleven thirty, after telling me that he was going to pick up tyler and then telling me that we were going to ihop and then telling me he was lost. so courtney and i played some more "mario" until nick arrived.
then we all went and picked up rebecca and the four of us ate at ihop. yes, i actually did eat. quite a bit. in front of people that i don't know all that well. it was okay though because they were all distracted with their own food. but they finished and i had two bites, and so all three were looking at me, and i had to stop eating because i couldn't eat with them watching me. i felt like a total loser, but rebecca informed nick of why i stopped eating at t-minus two bites, so they all looked away and i could finish. geez, talk about super self-conscious lame-o. anyway, when we went to pay our bills, nick and tyler went first, and they both had their little football cards that gave them twenty percent off. the cashier/manager or something, who knew nick and rebecca personally, assumed that becca and i also had cards, so we got discount by association. it was nice. oh, and brett vlahovich was our waiter. nick is convinced he's gay, but i don't think so. creeper? maybe..we then drove to nick's house and doled out homework in approximately equal portions, including madison when she showed up, then when each of us had finished our sections, we played musical homework and passed all eight sections around the circle for, ah, homework help purposes.
i was there from one o'clock until eight thirty, and i still didn't finish all of it. i had to take nick's notecards home with me.
so nick gave me a ride home at eight thirty, and i felt bad because it was icy and dark and he lives like four miles away from me, so i paid him back for the ride and homework help with a piece of my cheesecake. he came inside and briefly met melody, and he was like, "so that's your other sister?" because he already knew molly from orchestra, even though he had no idea we were sisters until i told him, and so i had to let him know she was in eighth grade. he got that same look everyone gets when they figure out how young she is, the jaw-dropped are-you-serious? look. it was entertaining. and so i sent him on his merry way, and we watched the o.c., and i gulped down all kinds of beverages because i was very thirsty. i had had three gulps of water in twenty hours. not healthy, i'm sure.
a small note to *leopard*: yes, i know. i apologize. and yes, i agree completely. and also, i love you.
while we were watching tv, my dad was saying how we should figure out how i was going to pay for college. we weren't accepted for federal aide, at least molly wasn't, though i may be because of the whole two-kids-in-college thing. so i either had to bring my grades up for a scholarship (ha. academic scholarship? mary? that's a laugh.) or find some other way. like my father's suggestion: i should consider enlisting in the navy.
oh. my. goodness. that is really scary. me joining the military? i have honestly never, ever, ever seriously entertained the idea. but my dad thinks it could help me pay for college, and i could also use a nice big helping of military discipline. come on, i'm not even that bad of a kid. in fact, my record has been basically spotless in terms of getting in trouble for stupid mistakes since approximately october or november. the discipline thing is a little ridiculous, in my opinion, but my mom agrees.
so i've got a bit to think about.
"dear lover
do you remember
the beats of my heart that i gave you?"
